Eventually... When the installation process starts it seems to stop at 27% and also the following error message appears " error copying setup files to local machine error code 80070241 " i have iso`d windows to 2 dvd discs, and retried incase od disc error, but the same thing happens. Also strangely which never normally happens is that im downloading at roughly 220kb/s on a 2mb connection. All week i could get no faster than 40kb/s so im hoping because of the speed this isn`t causing issues.. Any help would be appreciated. at the moment downloading again.. thanx

Installation error at 27% Vista 64 beta 2
Just to add. I`ve already tried the setup from the desktop and checked the integrity. No issues as i can see.I`ve tried to blank Hardrives. An IDE and a sata drive. both end with the same fate. I`v tried downloading 4 times. So its plain to see that i will have to purchase the damn dvd instead.

You must burn this ISO for 4x max.

I have the same problem I have downloaded the two versions of Vista Beta 2 (32 bits et 64 bits) and Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor. When I run Upgrade Advisor, I get the following message : System Compatibility Status Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor could not run Winsat. System compatibility status could not be evaluated. When I want to install Vista Beta 2 (I tried the two versions and each many times), the install always abort on the first phase "Copying Windows Files" and I always have this message : "an error occured during installation, error 80070241". For information, I don't upgrade my XP, I try to install a clean on a separate partition. -- Arsene Lupin 13

Microsoft advises burning at very low speeds. This is a much reported issue.

I'd still recommend re-downloading it. I had the same exact problem (at I believe the same percent only on the x86), but the problem went away when I re-downloaded the iso. Did your download get interrupted at all when downloading the ISO? If so, there's probably a guarantee of what happened. When I had my successful download of the ISO, I had no interruptions and it downloaded straight through. I'd also recommend you order the DVD as a safety net. Also as a note of advice, if you're overclocking your computer, do not have it overclocked while you install Vista (at the very least) or you may get stuck in the middle of the install and may have to install Vista all over again. It happened to me, and it also messed up my XP partition due to the boot manager. "Colin Barnhorst" wrote in message

What if, ya had to pause the d/load at any point.. Would this also cause problems? i`ve just completed another d/l and burned again at 2x. will try and come back.

Colin: I had the same error with Vista x64, after burning the ISO on different disks and speeds nothing worked. I found Andre's MD5 post and found that the download was corrupted. The second download matched the MD5 and worked properly. Sure, but MS is still advising that the prevalent problem is burn speed. Your mileage simply varied.
